Lista över DC-titlar (1935-1986)

Förlaget DC Comics gav under sina första femtio år ut serier av flera genrer, varav de främsta var superhjälteserier och andra äventyrsserier. Flertalet av dessa (liksom en stor del av förlagets övriga produktion) utspelar sig i DC:s universum.

Detta är en komplett lista över förlagets utgivning fram till maxiserien Crisis on Infinite Earths från 1985-1986. För den fortsatta utgivningen, se Lista över DC-titlar (1986-2011).

Översikt

DC Comics var ursprungligen tre förlag National Allied Publications, Detective Comics, och All-American Publications. Från och med 1945 är samtliga tidningar utgivna av samma förlag: National Periodical Publications, först 1977 formellt ändrat till DC Comics.

Fram till mitten av 1940-talet (Golden Age) bestod förlagets utgivning till stor del, men långt ifrån uteslutande, av superhjälteserier (en genre som i någon mån kan sägas ha uppkommit i och med Supermans debut 1938). Från åren omkring krigsslutet och en tioårsperiod framåt, svalnade intresset för superhjältar, och fokus skiftade till western-, funny animal-, romantik- och humorserier, samt adaptioner av populära radioserier och filmstjärnor (Atomic Age). Under andra hälften femtiotalet väcktes åter superhjälteintresset, tillsammans med science fiction-vågen, och under sextiotalet etablerades superhjältegenren på allvar igen (Silver Age). Detta fortsatte under sjuttiotalet (Bronze Age), nu parat med ett ökat intresse för skräck, fantasy och klassiska s.k. pulp-hjältar.

Under sjuttiotalet försökte förlaget också möta upp den allt mer hårdnande konkurrensen från Marvel Comics, med en kraftigt ökad serieproduktion, vilken fick ett abrupt slut hösten 1978 (DC Implosion), då ekonomiska motgångar tvang förlaget att lägga ned över 40% av sin utgivning, och kraftigt minska antalet seriesidor i de kvarvarande titlarna. Vid decennieskiftet sjuttiotal/åttiotal etablerade förslaget ett nytt format: limited series, vilket tillät att man kunde testa nya serier och koncept i ett begränsat format, utan lika stora ekonomiska risker.

1985-1986 publicerades maxiserien Crisis on Infinite Earths, vilken fick stora följder för utgivningen – se vidare Lista över DC-titlar (1986-2011).

Reguljära titlar

För utgivningen under det första decenniet är respektive tidnings ursprungliga utgivare är noterat efter startåret i tabellen, med N (National), D (Detective), respektive A (All-American).

Annuals publicerades i två omgångar, dels på 1960-talet och dels på 1980-talet.

Mini- och maxiserier

Till stor del till följd av 1978 års så kallade DC Implosion, introducerade förlaget ett nytt format för serietidningar, så kallade limited series, vilka publicerades med ett på förhand bestämt antal nummer.

Inledningsvis var förlagets mini- och maxiserier baserade på dess etablerade serier, men efter ett par år inleddes en växande produktion av originalserier.

Vid mitten av 1970-talet började DC och konkurrenten Marvel att samproducera enstaka förlagscrossoverserier i engångspublikationer. Utöver dessa så publicerades i reguljärutgivningen även "Superman and Spider-Man" (Marvel Treasury Edition #28 (1981)) och "Batman vs. The Incredible Hulk" (DC Special Series #27 (1981))
